Studio Overview

The studio space is used extensively by William in his own projects and is centered on digital "in the box" production, however hybrid analogue capabilities exist.

Note: This page showcases the creative environment and workflow. Specific gear details are kept minimal for security reasons.

Capabilities

Core Environment

FL Studio primary DAW with professional plugin library, custom VST3 tools, calibrated monitoring, and acoustic treatment for accurate mixing and sound design. However, Bitwig, Cubase, Reason, Luna and other softare is licened and avialble for use. Recording with Luna, or Mixbus are available. Just a note, currently Protools is not used however it can be used with leadtime if there isactual need for it in a substantial project. Windows 11 is used work with Logic likewise is only available if the project is substantial.

Process

  1. Initial consultation project scoping: this is just a friendly chat to gather information on what you have in mind and set a timeline and realistic structuring expectations
  2. Sound design, arrangementiterative production: ideally this will be working with materials you already have developed a bit, it is providing William's production for design and composition that can be done collaboratively based on what your specific needs are for developing the materials.
  3. Mixing, refinement client feedback: this is mostly intended as deliverable with William providing mixes of your materials and providing feedback. Collaborative mixing can be done remotely or in person if required.
  4. Final mastering delivery (stems + mastered files): this is intended as a deliverable per project depending on what the project is intended to be used for. Post production consultation and advice can be provided if requested.

Remote projects use secure file exchange (Dropbox, etc.). Real-time sessions via Zoom + screen sharing available when needed. A variety of tools are available depending on the pricing structure.

Work from the Studio

Hardware is limited as a mostly in the box studio space. It is suggested you bring your own equipment if required for any recording, and ideally you record your own stems, this is a production space, and isn't intended as a recording studio for bands, however solo artists can be accommodated, the space in studio is limited it is not intended as a social space. Sessions with multiple people can be arranged by appointment. This is not a strong recording enviornment live performance by bands. It is not an absolutely not but I am unlikely to take session recording contracts in this space for live band recording at this time. Requests will be considered but in advance it is highly unlikely this type of session contract work would be taken in studio and the space really isn't ideal as the space isn't kited out with dedicated isolation and recording spaces for drums. There is also a much larger time comitment to set up recording sessions, mic setup etc.. so in advance this type of recording studio function isn't served here and if it was done the fees would likely not be competitive with other spaces that can better accommodate recording sessions for live bands.

Core Tools

Workflow & Process

Typical creative flow in the studio:

  1. Brainstorming Production sessions – Sketching loops, melodies, and concepts directly in FL Studio, or other DAWs, honest nuetral feedback can be provided on how material is experienced. Note: that William's own preference in music creates a high bias to feedback that is provided. A variety of reference materials can be provided across broad tastes and influences. This is all based on personal preferences.
  2. Sound Design – Using both custom developed Plugins or existing sofware and hardware for any feel. Live-Recording is possible through analog preamps or audio interfaces
  3. Arrangement Composition Building on years of experience in composition musical arrangements can be composed for your projects collaboratively or as a deliverable
  4. Mixing Refinement Mix consulting and test mixes can be supplied as supplied through references, as an option.
  5. Post Production and Deliverable Exports – Final masters can be prepared in wavelab with some publishing options avaialble for registration, honest feedback on the quality of the project can be provided based upon William's personal opinion on the status of the project so as to provide a critical nuetral review of the musical end product. Constructive feedback can be supplied on any strengths or weakeness in the material. Connection points for the music and follow up distribution options can be provided.
