Copyright Notice (Canada)

All compositions, sound recordings, visual assets, and technical documentation published on this domain are connected to Canadian copyright law. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or commercial use is prohibited without written consent except where referenced explicity as exceptional carvouts, usage allowances, prior license, including open source, or common reasons such as fair use.

Moral rights (s. 14.1, Copyright Act) are asserted for all works created by William Ashley. It is suggested you share any materials you intend to repurpose with William Ashley and any other rights holders prior to publication so they can be assessed and addressed.

Canadian "Notice-and-Notice" Process

Under Sections 41.25–41.27 of Canada's Copyright Act, this website operates under the federal "notice-and-notice" regime for online copyright enforcement.

Valid notices must include: identification of the work, location of alleged infringement, contact information, and a statement of good-faith belief
Notices sent to legal@williamashley.music will be reviewed within 3–5 business days
William Ashley music does not automatically remove content upon receipt of notice; each claim is assessed on its merits under Canadian law
Frivolous or bad-faith notices may be documented and reported to the sender's ISP per s. 41.26(2)
While other cultures and other jurisidctions laws are considered if your local laws are far off from Canadian laws if not a serious matter it is unlikely William Ashley Music will respond unless required. In order for William Ashley Music to understand the seriousness of the issue kindly send the law that is being violated, the nature of the infringement and the penalties for that law in your country. It is possible the music or creative expressions published by William Ashley Music are not legal in all places around the world. William Ashley Music will consider but not restrict operations to the legal framework of other countries if the laws appear political or cultural values especially where cult based that do not represent nor have a realized risk of actual demonstrable harm to a specific person or persons. Demonstrable harm refers to any injury, damage, or negative consequence that can be proven, objectively observed, or clearly shown to exist through tangible evidence. It implies that the harm is not just a theoretical possibility, a vague feeling, or purely speculative, but rather something that can be verified and measured. For all copyright concerns and issue of infringement where possible include the market damage the action represents and any actual losses known or expected as a result of the infringement with demonstrative proof of those harms. This is not furtherance of an intentional willfullness to further infringement or ingore communications; however, requests without any evidence of economic harm or other rights considerations will not be prioritize in preference to responding to the actions based on the seriousness of the situation with a given claim.

Right of attribution: To be credited as author when works are used publicly
Right of integrity: To object to distortion, mutilation, or modification that prejudices my honour or reputation

Canadian Performing Rights & Neighbouring Rights

William Ashley is SOCAN-affiliated content creator based in Ontario. BMI is his United States of America designated PRO.

SOCAN administers public performance rights for musical works (composition/lyrics) The music artist name is "William Ashley" and the Interested Party Information number is IPI 01217719062
Where applicable re:sound administers recordings (master rights)in Canada, however, in the United State of America, I am a member of SoundExchange. Check the current registry or conditions under those organizations to see if and where they are applicable.

For licensing inquiries involving Canadian broadcasts, public performance, or digital streaming, contact licensing@williamashley.music with territory and use-case details. It is important to note that William Ashley Music releases in 2026 will appear as "CB-HF3-26-00001" and upward numbers. These are being arranged under new ISRC assignements and should start being allocated and publically accessible over the summer of 2026. Release information will be made available in a searchable registry on this site when it is compiled. If you are searching for copies with the Library and Archives of Canada they will be searchable as William Ashley Publishing. More information on this will be made public when it is finalized.

Privacy (PIPEDA Compliance)

When this site collects personal data, any information submitted is beyond direct control in many ways due to 3rd datamanagement of the transfer and collection of that information and it being housed on 3rd party communications infrastructure such as storage in the cloud, on major bigtec companies servers and in their ecosystem. It is not secure. Do not send private data via this website or email if it needs to be fully private. It is not reasonable to have an expectation of private communications via major communications companies in 2026. Upon receipt it is likely it will be retained until it is deleted. Due regard will be given for the effects of any information disclosures. Where Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) applies to the comminication that is the standard that is applied when required:
There may be additional legal requirements within Canada such as compliance and disclosure requirements that effectively remove the ability to keep any data private in nature due to broad surveillance laws. As such take note all communications will be given due regard but that safety of that information is not possible. If something is very important communicate directly with William Ashley in person, using pizzino or similar communications methods nothing is secure these days.

Email inquiries are used solely for the purpose of responding to your request, no intentional solicitations or mass marketing is engaged in by William Ashley Music.

William Ashley Music does not engage in information reselling; however, legal compliance or moral duty may force information that may cause serious harm to a person to be dislcosed due to regulatory compliance or concern for wellbeing of those who communicate to prevent expected harm from occuring.

You may request deletion or correction of your personal information by emailing legal@williamashley.music. William Ashley's locally stored copies if applicable may be able to be deleted or modified however databackups could have been made by government or big tech that manage that data as there is a lot of information collection and storage that goes beyond privacy laws where they exist so take note even requesting deletion may not result in the record being gone from all parties involved with email exchange transfer and storage systems. Be aware that William Ashley Music may not be the sole custodian of your data. The CRA generally requires business records to be kept for 6 years from the end of the last tax year or longer if there is an ongoing legal matter with them. This will mean records such as: Invoices, Contracts, Receipts,Payment records, Supporting business correspondence (emails/messages relevant to transactions) may be retained even if a request to delete them is sent, due to regulatory tax compliance requirements.
WilliamAshley.Music may use tracking cookies, analytics, and third-party data processors including Cloudflare Workers / Pages infrastructure. This is not done to collect your information by William Ashley Music but rather provide information about the site usage broadly in non-personal ways for website management purposes. Disable or block them on your end if you don't like them.

Jurisdiction & Dispute Resolution

William Ashley is an Ontario Canada resident / William Ashley Music is a registered business based in Ontario Canada/ William Ashley Music and its publishing operates out of Ontario Canada: The closest provincial civil court is Owen Sound and this is the prefered venue for all civil matters that fall under provincial claims processes. Toronto is the nearest Federal Court sitting area when applicable and this is the prefered venue for federally regulated matters when available.

Any legal disputes regarding this site or its content shall be governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein

For international collaborators, William Ashley Music defaults to Canadian / Ontario law unless otherwise agreed in writing or it is mutually agreed by both parties that another jurisidiction should be used to resolve the issue. If there is a prior written agreeement please provide it in your communication so the particulars are clear and understood including any jurisidictional matters.

Response time: As possible where a serious matter personal service is prefered. William Ashley do not accept email as a form of legal service due to mail going into spam on occassion if it is not a required form of acceptance of service. If it is a real legal matter use physical servicing of any legal notices. William Ashley does not provide advanced consent of altenrative service. Service can be sent to P.O. If it has to be delivered to me with proof of service arrnage for a meeting or find out the address through other means.My physical address is kept as private as possible to prevent the very many crazies and otherwise maligned folks on the internet from engaging personally with me, not prevent legal servicing. There are very nasty people in the world this is where I draw the line this is done for personal safety as well as reduce the likelyhood of vandalism and home invasions.
